3D Modeling and Printing for Model Building

This section of Lew's Model Boats is all about Lew's using 3D modeling software and 3D
printing for making models
and model parts. It will explore reasoning why 3D modeling and printing is applicable to model building as well as
supplying some tips on how everything comes together through producing the parts.
3D Modeling and Printing: Cheating or Another Tool?
This is a big question among model builders. Perhaps the fast answer is the development of tools over the ages. First a sharpened stone the a carving
knife, followed by a boring tool for holes
then maybe a saw, etc. on up to machinery like lathes, motorized hobby tools
and more. Perhaps some that think 3D modeling and printing is cheating. I believe it is not. It is just another tool
to allows the builder to make objects faster and better. Perhaps those that think this is not applicable for modeling do not know how to do "3D work."
